Research

I used to spend hours researching bands, and now I spend hours praying for my scientific research to give me some sort of a thesis. Back then, I would research the unknown punk bands from the UK and plan out my life there. I still could picture a life in somewhere different than Colorado, but here's to the good ol' days. If you go to BBC Radio One and click on DJs and Shows... look around. See what's big in the UK these days! If not... here's some

When you have to finish the worst paper ever, I recommend something with a beat that just keeps your fingers typing. Here are my suggestions, but I warn you that they are not for everyone. If a good beat causes distractions or renders you useless due to a want to dance around... this is not for you.

Well I feel like maybe I'm out of the loop because I just heard this song. I really like it though. I would definitely say they have an Animal Collective vibe, but let's see what Wikipedia has to say...

Nurses is a Portland-based indie rock trio composed of Aaron Chapman (vocals, guitar, keyboard), John Bowers (backing vocals, keyboard), and James Mitchell (percussionist & visual artist). Their sound is often categorized as psychedelic pop, folk rock, and experimental. Nurses started as a quartet from Idaho which moved to Portland, Oregon where they met James Mitchell.^[1] The trio joined Dead Oceans Records on May 21, 2009 and released their album via Dead Oceans on August 4, 2009 (August 24 in the UK).^[2] Nurses album, Apple's Acre, has been described as a shaggy younger sibling of Animal Collective or Grizzly Bear with the sound of dreamy harmonies, carnival organs, slightly out-of-tune pianos and basic percussion from a lone snare or tambourine and received a 7.2 rating from Pitchfork.

This is probably my favorite song by Sea Wolf. I think it's perfect. "I'd love you anywhere, but black leaf falls." Interpret it any way you want. My thoughts... circumstance get in the way of even the best intentions. 

I feel like when you're young, things change so rapidly from year to year, that it's hard to keep up. You grasp at old leaves that are saved because of all the happy times you had over the years jumping in the leaves and throwing the leaves. But the colors fade and the leaves dry. But that doesn't mean the leaves aren't lovely and just as good as before. They are just different and you have to change with those leaves, which is hard. And what if you've changed so far beyond those leaves, that they end up just crumpling and disappearing into the dying grass? It's hard to say what the changing seasons hold...

I feel like also, it's so easy to place blame when your feelings are hurt. But I feel like I've started to see my own faults in the matter. Relationships with people are so hard. You have to calculate how you're feeling vs. how they are feeling vs. how you say what you need to say without hurting someone vs. you part in the problem. It's a hard game to play. 

Another thing, I get insecure about being replaced. I don't know why but I feel like I've always been that way since I was young. It probably comes from insecurities with myself and with problems that are occurring simultaneously... aka I get scared of new, fun/beer-loving friends that could offer the same company that I could. My own insecurities could ultimately lead to me pushing away those closest to me. 

I guess it's time to focus on myself and get back to those trails. Now if only I could find some near Aurora to accompany the home-made Indian food diet.

Deep Sea Diver! New band I'm really into and is definitely getting me through this biochemistry study guide. You can listen to their music on their facebook for free! You Go Running was a KEXP song of the day and is really fantastic!

So this other band Hey Marseilles has been around since 2008 so I won't be offended if you know of them. I feel like I've heard their name but hey, this is the first time I've really gotten into them. They released Elegy in 2011 and I really like it!
